  • Through My Headset – The LEFT BEHIND series

With the release of the movie “LEFT BEHIND” starring Nicholas Cage, I thought I would mention here that I listened to the dramatized versions of the Left Behind books via Audible Dot Com about 10 years ago.

While listening I did take a break. I was listening at the time of the Twin Towers attack at the same time attacks were taking place during the book. I was on emotional overload and had to step away for a bit.

I enjoyed the dramatized version. It felt like being at a movie without the visual. I do not want all the books I listen to to be dramatized, but for some books it truly helps bring it alive.

It was easy to follow the story line while working on a knit/crochet project.

What series of books have you enjoyed and would you recommend?

  • Through My Headset – The Prayer Box

I just finished listening to “The Prayer Box” by Lisa Wingate. It was read very well by Xe Sands.

Tandi finds herself cleaning out the historic old home of Iola Poole where she finds boxes and boxes and boxes filled with letters ‘to my father’.

Through reading these letters she learns much about the writer, the town and herself.

I identified well with Tandi and enjoyed the story of her personal growth. I completed quite a few crocheted teddy bears and a trip through Costco while listening to this book.

  • Through My Headset

I have always enjoyed reading.  I got in trouble many times as a child for ‘keeping my nose in a book’.

As I grew older I still enjoyed reading but as ‘life’ happened I found time to sit quietly and read.  Then I got busy with my knitting and crochet. This took hours of my time. The book could be sitting on the table beside me, but I wasn’t picking it up.

Problem:  it is not possible to read a book while the hands are busy with yarn and hook or needles in my hand 🙂

    Solution: audio books.

I have been a member of AUDIBLE (check out audible dot com) since 2001. Getting at least 1 book a month I now have a large audio book collection at my fingertips. There are many places to get audio books including the library and other websites. I just happen to use Audible.

I enjoy listening to audio books for many reasons. The biggest reason is that I can read/listen to a book while I knit or crochet.

This new category is set up to share with you what audio books I am listening to while I stitch.  I hope you will join me on some of these literate journeys.
